The Bible doesn’t mince words here! It bluntly reminds us that refusing to learn from our mistakes is foolishness. Yet, our pride hates correction. When someone points out a flaw or a mistake, our instinct is to defend, deflect, and blame. We would rather be “right” than be healed.
Admitting our wrongs to God, to ourselves, and to another human being forces us to swallow that toxic pride. It transforms correction from a punishment into a pathway for knowledge.
Our primary purpose is to carry this message of freedom, and we cannot be free if we are too proud to admit when we are off course. “Loving discipline” doesn’t mean we enjoy the pain of it; it means we love the result it produces: a changed, mature character. Don’t run from the stinging truth; run toward it, because it is the only thing that can set you free.
