RGV Road to Recovery IA respects your privacy and recognizes that people seeking recovery information may share personal and sensitive information. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, how it may be used and shared, and the choices available to you.

This policy applies to the RGV Road to Recovery IA website, online accounts, courses, forms, email communications, online meetings, donations, volunteer and partnership applications, recovery-support requests, and related online services.

By using our website or submitting information to us, you acknowledge the practices described in this Privacy Policy.

1. Who We Are

RGV Road to Recovery IA, also known as Receive God’s Vision, is a Christ-centered recovery ministry and nonprofit organization.

2. Important Recovery-Information Notice

Information you provide may reveal that you or someone associated with you is seeking addiction-recovery, relapse-prevention, family-support, mentoring, housing, spiritual, or related assistance.

Please submit only the information reasonably needed for your request.

RGV is not a medical provider, mental-health provider, treatment facility, detoxification facility, health plan, emergency service, or crisis hotline. Unless specifically stated otherwise, RGV is not representing that it is a covered entity or business associate under the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, commonly called HIPAA.

Information submitted to RGV should not automatically be assumed to have the legal protections applicable to medical records maintained by a HIPAA-covered healthcare provider.

Do not use a website form, course message, email, or voicemail for an emergency.

If you or another person is in immediate danger, experiencing a medical emergency, at risk of overdose, or unable to remain safe, call 911.

For suicide or mental-health crisis assistance in the United States, call or text 988 or visit https://988lifeline.org.

We will not use recovery-related information to diagnose or provide medical treatment.

5. Children and Teenagers

Children Under 13

Children under 13 may not independently create an account, register for a course, complete a website form, or submit personal information to RGV.

A request for individualized consideration may be initiated by:

  • A parent;

  • A legal guardian or legal custodian; or

  • A qualified addiction-treatment, recovery, behavioral-health, or youth-services agency acting with proper authority.

Requests must be sent to office@rgvroadtorecovery.org.

A child under 13 should not initiate the request or email RGV independently.

Submitting a request does not guarantee approval. Before collecting personal information from or permitting participation by a child under 13, RGV may require:

  • Verifiable permission from a parent, legal guardian, or legal custodian;

  • Verification of the requesting adult’s identity and authority;

  • Verification of an agency’s authority to act;

  • A description of the information that would be collected;

  • Appropriate adult supervision;

  • Limitations on account features or communications; and

  • Other privacy or safety protections.

The responsible adult may contact us to review, correct, or request deletion of a child’s personal information, subject to legal and administrative retention requirements.

Participants Ages 13 Through 17

Participants ages 13 through 17 may register or participate only with the knowledge and permission of a parent or legal guardian.

We may collect the participant’s name, contact information, age, course activity, communications, and other information reasonably necessary to provide the program.

We may also collect the parent’s or guardian’s name, contact information, authorization, and relationship to the participant.

RGV may contact the responsible adult concerning enrollment, safety, inappropriate conduct, account administration, or other matters reasonably related to participation.

Removal of Children’s Information

If you believe a child has submitted personal information without proper authorization, contact office@rgvroadtorecovery.org. Provide enough information for us to locate the account or submission without including unnecessary sensitive details.

We will review the request and take appropriate action.

6. Cookies and Similar Technologies

The website uses cookies and similar technologies for operation, security, preferences, analytics, communications, and embedded services.

You can use the website’s cookie-preference control to reject or disable nonessential cookies when that option is available.

You can also control cookies through your browser. Blocking some cookies may prevent accounts, courses, donations, embedded videos, or other features from functioning correctly.

Your cookie choices are generally stored for a limited period so the website can remember them. You may reopen the cookie settings to change your choices.

7. Analytics

We use Google Analytics, supported through MonsterInsights, to understand how visitors use the website.

Google may receive information such as:

  • IP address;

  • Device and browser information;

  • Approximate location;

  • Pages visited;

  • Referral source;

  • Website interactions; and

  • Cookie or device identifiers.

We use this information to evaluate traffic and improve website performance and content.

Google’s handling of information is governed by its own privacy terms. Depending on the site’s cookie configuration and your consent choices, analytics may be limited or disabled.

8. Email, Contact Management, and Push Notifications

We may use Brevo, Groundhogg, WonderPush, WordPress plugins, or similar services to manage contacts and send:

  • Account messages;

  • Course notices;

  • Requested recovery information;

  • Newsletters;

  • Meeting reminders;

  • Donation communications;

  • Administrative notices; and

  • Browser push notifications.

These systems may process your name, email address, telephone number, subscription status, message activity, device identifiers, and interaction information.

You may unsubscribe from optional marketing or newsletter emails through the unsubscribe link in the message.

Browser push notifications require browser permission. You may withdraw that permission through your browser settings.

Unsubscribing from optional messages does not necessarily prevent essential account, security, donation, registration, or program-administration communications.

RGV primarily communicates by email. Website messages and email are not continuously monitored and must not be used for emergencies.

9. Accounts and Online Courses

Our account and course systems may use WordPress, LearnPress, Ultimate Member, or related plugins.

When you register for an account or enroll in a course, we may retain:

  • Registration information;

  • Username and account identifier;

  • Email and telephone number;

  • Enrolled courses;

  • Lesson and course progress;

  • Quiz or assignment responses;

  • Completion status;

  • Certificates;

  • Login and security records; and

  • Communications concerning participation.

Authorized administrators may access account and course information when reasonably necessary to operate the program, provide support, address safety or conduct concerns, or maintain the website.

Participants should not include unnecessary medical or highly sensitive information in course responses or profile fields.

10. Forms and Recovery-Help Requests

Forms may collect information including your name, email address, telephone number, message, organization, interests, or reason for contacting RGV.

Information submitted through a recovery-help form is used to review the request, respond to you, provide appropriate information, and, when requested or appropriate, help identify outside resources.

Submitting a form does not create a medical, counseling, therapist-client, attorney-client, or other licensed professional relationship.

We cannot guarantee a particular response time, program acceptance, treatment placement, housing placement, or outcome.

11. Online Meetings and Video Services

RGV may use Jitsi Meet or another online-meeting provider for meetings, mentoring, training, or group discussions.

Depending on the meeting configuration, the service may process:

  • Display name;

  • IP address;

  • Device and browser data;

  • Audio and video;

  • Chat messages;

  • Meeting activity; and

  • Technical diagnostic information.

Participants must not record, photograph, livestream, transcribe, or distribute a meeting without express authorization.

If RGV intends to record or transcribe a meeting, participants should be notified before recording or transcription begins. Participants who do not consent may decline to participate in the recorded session or request an available alternative.

Participants should join meetings from a private location when possible and understand that RGV cannot control the conduct, devices, or surroundings of every participant.

12. Embedded Content and External Websites

Pages may include or link to content and services supplied by third parties, including:

  • YouTube;

  • Givebutter;

  • Jitsi Meet;

  • LifeLegacy;

  • Amazon;

  • Rada Cutlery;

  • Flower Power Fundraising;

  • Recovery-housing resources;

  • Churches;

  • Referral organizations; and

  • Other community or fundraising partners.

Embedded content may allow the outside provider to collect information as though you visited its website directly. The provider may use cookies, tracking technologies, or account information according to its own privacy policy.

When you leave our website, the outside organization’s privacy policy—not this policy—governs its collection and use of information.

13. Spam Prevention, Security, and Fraud Detection

We use security and spam-prevention services that may include Cloudflare Turnstile, Google reCAPTCHA, WordPress security tools, hosting-provider protections, and automated spam detection.

These services may process:

  • IP address;

  • Browser and device characteristics;

  • Interaction and timing information;

  • Login attempts;

  • Form submissions; and

  • Other signals used to distinguish legitimate visitors from automated or malicious activity.

Use of Google reCAPTCHA may be subject to Google’s Privacy Policy and Terms of Service. Cloudflare processes information under its own privacy policy.

These tools are used to protect the website, participants, accounts, forms, and administrators from spam, fraud, abuse, and unauthorized access.

14. When We May Share Information

We may share information only as reasonably necessary with:

Authorized RGV Personnel

Directors, staff, administrators, facilitators, mentors, volunteers, or contractors may receive information needed to perform an authorized responsibility.

Access does not mean that every volunteer or facilitator can view all participant information.

Service Providers

Companies that provide website hosting, email delivery, contact management, analytics, donations, meetings, spam prevention, security, document storage, or technical support may process information for us.

They are permitted to use information according to their agreements and applicable law.

Organizations You Request

When you ask us to make a referral, contact an organization, help with housing or treatment resources, or coordinate with an agency, we may share the information reasonably necessary to fulfill that request.

Where practical, we will seek your permission before sharing sensitive information with an outside organization.

Safety and Legal Reasons

We may preserve or disclose information when reasonably believed necessary to:

  • Respond to an immediate threat to life or safety;

  • Report suspected child or dependent-adult abuse, neglect, or exploitation when required or permitted by law;

  • Comply with a subpoena, court order, warrant, or legal obligation;

  • Investigate fraud, misuse, threats, harassment, or security incidents;

  • Enforce our Terms of Use; or

  • Protect RGV, a participant, or another person.

Organizational Changes

If RGV undergoes a merger, restructuring, transfer of operations, or similar organizational change, records may be transferred subject to appropriate privacy protections and applicable law.

15. Sale of Personal Information

RGV Road to Recovery IA does not sell personal information for money.

We do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of children or teenagers for targeted advertising.

Some analytics, embedded content, or third-party services may collect information through cookies or similar technologies. You may limit nonessential technologies through the website’s cookie controls and your browser settings.

16. Information Retention

We retain information only as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected and for legitimate administrative, safety, legal, financial, tax, security, and recordkeeping needs.

Retention periods may vary depending on the type of information. For example:

  • Account information may be retained while the account remains active;

  • Course records may be retained to document progress and completion;

  • Donation records may be retained as required for financial and tax purposes;

  • Consent and youth-authorization records may be retained to document permission;

  • Security logs may be retained to investigate abuse or unauthorized access;

  • Communications may be retained while a request or relationship remains active; and

  • Backup copies may remain temporarily after information is removed from active systems.

Information may be retained longer when required by law, necessary to protect safety, or needed to establish, exercise, or defend legal rights.

17. Information Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures intended to protect personal information.

These measures may include:

  • Encrypted website connections;

  • Password protection;

  • Access restrictions;

  • Spam and bot protection;

  • Website security monitoring;

  • Software updates;

  • Backups; and

  • Limited administrative access.

No website, email system, online meeting, database, or internet transmission can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

Do not send passwords, full payment-card information, Social Security numbers, or unnecessary medical records by email or ordinary website forms.

If we identify a data-security incident requiring notification, we will provide notice as required by applicable law.

18. Your Privacy Choices and Requests

You may contact us to request that we:

  • Confirm whether we maintain information about you;

  • Provide access to information you submitted;

  • Correct inaccurate information;

  • Delete information when legally and operationally appropriate;

  • Close an account;

  • Withdraw from optional email communications;

  • Review information maintained about a child for whom you have legal authority; or

  • Answer a question about our privacy practices.

Send requests to office@rgvroadtorecovery.org.

To protect participants, we may need to verify your identity or authority before completing a request.

We may be unable to delete information that must be retained for legal, tax, fraud-prevention, safety, security, consent-verification, or recordkeeping purposes. When complete deletion is not possible, we may restrict further use when appropriate.

You may also:

  • Use the unsubscribe link in an optional email;

  • Disable push notifications in your browser;

  • Change cookie preferences through the website’s cookie control;

  • Block or delete cookies through your browser; or

  • Request account assistance by email.

We will not discriminate against a person for making a legitimate privacy request.

19. Confidentiality Limitations

We seek to handle recovery-related information respectfully, but we cannot promise absolute confidentiality.

Information shared in a group meeting may be heard or repeated by another participant despite group rules. Email, ordinary website forms, and online meeting platforms also carry inherent privacy and security risks.

RGV cannot guarantee that another participant will comply with confidentiality expectations.

Do not share another person’s recovery story, contact information, photograph, course response, or private circumstances without authorization.

20. Visitors Outside the United States

RGV Road to Recovery IA is based in Iowa in the United States. Our website and programs are primarily intended for users in the United States.

If you access the website from another country, your information may be processed or stored in the United States or another location where our service providers operate.

Privacy protections in those locations may differ from those in your country.

21. Links to Other Privacy Policies

Third-party providers maintain their own privacy notices. You should review the policy of a provider before submitting information directly to that provider.

RGV is not responsible for the privacy practices, security, or content of an outside website or organization.

22. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as our programs, technology, service providers, or legal obligations change.

The revised policy will be posted on this page with a new “Last Updated” date. When appropriate, material changes may also be communicated through the website or by email.
