Hiding our sin is like that. It is exhausting. We spend so much energy “covering up,” managing the story, and making sure no one finds out the truth. We wear ourselves out trying to look perfect.
A fearless moral inventory is about letting the ball go. We acknowledge the truth. We stop covering up. We let the ball pop up. And the result? Relief. God forgives the guilt. We take responsibility for our actions, and in return, we get our energy back. You don’t have to be perfect, but you do have to be honest. The weight of the secret is far heavier than the price of confession.
