We spent years trying to force our own plans into existence. We manipulated, we schemed, we hustled, and we tried to control every outcome. And usually, those plans fell apart because they were built on the shaky foundation of self-will and immediate gratification. We were terrible architects of our own lives.
We are invited to a life of commitment. We make a decision to turn our will and our lives over to the care of God. We hand Him the blueprints. We stop trying to be the foreman of the construction site.
When we stop trying to build our own little kingdom and commit our efforts to Him, He “establishes” them. That word means He makes them firm, stable, and lasting. The anxieties about the future begin to fade because we know the Builder is good. The only requirement for this is a sincere desire to stop playing God. If you have the desire to let go, God has the power to build something beautiful out of the rubble.
