We live in a world addicted to noise and motion. From the moment we wake up, our minds are bombarded by notifications, anxieties, and the endless mental chatter of what we need to accomplish. For many of us, staying busy was a coping mechanism to avoid facing our own pain.
But spiritual growth requires a different pace. It requires us to cultivate the practice of prayer and meditation. God rarely shouts over the chaos of our lives; He speaks in whispers that can only be heard when we stop moving.
Stillness nurtures contact with God. It is the radical act of pausing the world to remind our frantic souls that He is God, and we are not. When we sit in the quiet, we stop trying to manufacture our own peace and finally allow Him to provide it.
