Think about a gold miner panning in a freezing river. They don’t just casually dip their pan in the water once, shrug when they find nothing, and walk away. They stay in the river, sifting through the dirt for hours with intense focus, knowing the treasure is there. In our past, we pursued our next fix, our next drink, or our next distraction with that exact level of relentless intensity. God asks us to redirect that intensity toward Him. Faith is not a passive feeling; it is an active, daily pursuit. To “earnestly seek” Him means prioritizing our spiritual condition above our immediate comfort. God doesn’t play hard to get, but He does want to be pursued. When we take the time to read the word, sit in prayer, and earnestly look for His hand in our daily lives, we find that seeking draws a profound reward. He rewards us with the one thing that can actually satisfy our souls: His presence. |
