A beautiful violin sitting on a dusty shelf makes no music. If it is handed to a toddler, it makes a terrible, screeching noise. But when it is placed in the hands of a master musician, it produces a breathtaking symphony. The instrument doesn’t change; the hands that hold it change everything. In our past, we freely offered our bodies, our time, and our minds to our addictions. We were active instruments in the hands of a cruel master, creating chaos and pain. Recovery requires a radical transfer of ownership. Readiness means presenting ourselves as empty, willing vessels, ready to be used as instruments of righteousness. We are asked to offer every single part of ourselves to God. When we place our lives in the hands of the Master, we stop creating noise and start creating harmony. |
