Imagine being given a complex, 50-page technical manual just to operate a simple coffee maker. You would be frustrated, overwhelmed, and probably just give up. We often treat spirituality like a complicated manual filled with impossible rules, assuming God is standing by to fail us if we push the wrong button. But God’s requirements are beautifully, blessedly simple. He asks for three things: act justly (do the right thing), love mercy (freely give the grace you desperately need), and walk humbly with Him. Walking humbly is the foundation of it all. It means aligning our pace with God’s pace. We don’t sprint ahead of Him in arrogant anxiety, nor do we stubbornly drag our feet in the past. We simply walk beside Him, matching His stride, trusting that He knows the way through the wilderness. |
