Imagine standing at the edge of a long suspension bridge over a deep canyon. A thick, heavy fog rolls in, completely hiding the other side from view. To cross, you have to take the first step onto the swaying wood, trusting that the bridge holds firm even though you cannot see where it ends. You are terrified, your knees are shaking, and you are full of doubt—but you take the step anyway. We often think that to have “faith,” we must have zero doubts and feel completely fearless. But the most honest prayer in the Bible comes from a father who admitted he was terrified and struggling to believe, even while he was asking for a miracle. God honors honest, trembling faith. You don’t have to have it all figured out to reach out to Him. Even a tiny step onto the bridge, mixed with a healthy dose of fear, is enough for God to work with. He meets us in our “unbelief” and steadies us from there. |
