We often exhaust ourselves trying to predict the future or control the outcome of every situation. We think if we just worry enough or plan enough, we can force life to go our way.
But today’s scripture offers a better way: lean not on your own understanding.
This is the heart of our decision to turn our will over to the care of God. It is an act of trust. Instead of white-knuckling the steering wheel, we choose to believe that God’s plan is better than ours.
In our fellowship, we often say that the only requirement for membership is a desire to recover. That same simple desire is all you need to start trusting God today. You don’t need perfect faith; you just need enough humility to say, “God, I can’t run this show anymore. You take it.”
