RGV Road to Recovery IA is committed to making its website, recovery resources, courses, meetings, forms, documents, and communications accessible to people with disabilities.

We believe people seeking recovery information, spiritual encouragement, family support, community resources, or opportunities to participate should be able to access those resources as independently and effectively as reasonably possible.

Our Accessibility Goal

RGV Road to Recovery IA is working toward improving accessibility throughout rgvroadtorecovery.org.

We use the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines, currently WCAG 2.2 Level AA, as an important reference for identifying and reducing accessibility barriers.

This statement expresses our accessibility goal and ongoing commitment. It is not a representation that every page, document, course, video, form, plugin, or third-party service currently conforms fully to every WCAG success criterion.

Accessibility is an ongoing process, particularly because the website contains older content, third-party tools, online courses, embedded media, downloadable documents, and frequently updated material.

Accessibility Measures

As the website is reviewed and improved, our accessibility efforts may include:

  • Providing meaningful alternative text for informative images;

  • Using headings in a logical order;

  • Maintaining readable text and sufficient color contrast;

  • Avoiding the use of color alone to communicate information;

  • Supporting keyboard navigation;

  • Providing visible keyboard-focus indicators;

  • Using descriptive link and button text;

  • Adding labels and instructions to form fields;

  • Providing clear form-error messages;

  • Allowing browser zoom and text enlargement;

Known and Potential Limitations

Despite our efforts, some content may not yet be fully accessible.

Potential limitations may include:

  • Older PDF documents that are not properly tagged for screen readers;

  • Images that need improved alternative text;

  • Older videos that do not contain accurate captions or transcripts;

  • Embedded YouTube videos or other third-party media;

  • Course features supplied through LearnPress or related plugins;

  • Account registration and profile features;

  • Donation tools supplied through Givebutter;

  • Online meeting features supplied through Jitsi Meet;

  • Cookie-consent controls;

  • Popups or modal windows;

  • Third-party fundraising and legacy-giving services;

  • Forms with incomplete labels or error announcements;

  • Content created before current accessibility practices were adopted; and

  • External websites that RGV does not control.

We are working to identify and address barriers according to their effect on a person’s ability to obtain important information or participate in a program.

Third-Party Content and Services

Some website functions are provided by outside organizations.

Although RGV seeks to select and configure services responsibly, we do not control every aspect of a third party’s:

  • Website;

  • Software;

  • Accessibility;

  • Account system;

  • Video player;

  • Donation form;

  • Meeting platform;

  • Document;

  • Privacy practices; or

  • Technical support.

If an outside service creates an accessibility barrier, contact us. We will attempt to identify an available alternative or help communicate the issue to the provider.

Videos, Audio, and Meetings

RGV seeks to provide accurate captions, transcripts, or another reasonable alternative for important prerecorded video and audio content.

Automatically generated captions may contain errors, particularly in names, Scripture references, recovery terminology, and organization names.

If you encounter inaccurate or missing captions, email office@rgvroadtorecovery.org and identify the video or page.

For an online or in-person meeting, training, or presentation, please request any needed accommodation as early as reasonably possible. Available accommodations will depend on the program, platform, notice provided, and resources available.

Downloadable Documents

The website may contain PDF, Word, presentation, or other downloadable documents.

Some older documents may not work properly with screen readers, keyboard navigation, text reflow, or other assistive technology.

If you need a document in another format, contact us and identify:

  • The document title;

  • The page where it appears;

  • The format you need; and

  • The best email address for our response.

Depending on the document, an alternative may include plain text, an accessible Word document, an accessible PDF, a transcript, or assistance locating the requested information.

Forms and Account Assistance

If you cannot complete a registration, recovery-help, donation, volunteer, youth-consent, or other website form because of an accessibility barrier, contact:

Please do not email passwords, complete payment-card information, Social Security numbers, or unnecessary medical records.

Email is not monitored continuously and must not be used for emergencies.

Requesting an Accommodation or Alternative Format

  • The webpage address or URL;

  • The title of the page, course, form, video, or document;

  • A description of the problem;

  • The browser and assistive technology being used, if relevant;

You are not required to provide a diagnosis or detailed medical information to report an accessibility problem.

RGV will review requests individually and make reasonable efforts to provide effective access. The exact solution may depend on the nature of the content, the requested accommodation, available technology, and organizational resources.

Accessibility Feedback

We welcome respectful feedback from people with disabilities, family members, caregivers, advocates, volunteers, and professionals.

Accessibility feedback helps us identify barriers that may not be detected through automated tools or routine visual review.

Reporting a barrier will not affect eligibility for available RGV programs or resources.

Browser and Device Settings

Many browsers and devices include accessibility tools that may help users:

  • Increase text size;

  • Zoom page content;

  • Adjust colors or contrast;

  • Navigate with a keyboard;

  • Use voice control;

  • Enable screen reading;

  • Display captions; or

  • Reduce motion.

These tools may improve access, but users should not be required to rely solely on personal settings to overcome barriers that RGV can reasonably correct.

Emergency Information

RGV Road to Recovery IA is not an emergency service, crisis hotline, medical provider, psychiatric provider, or detoxification facility.

Changes to This Statement

We may update this Accessibility Statement as the website, programs, technology, accessibility practices, or applicable requirements change.
