The world tells us that to get ahead, we have to push, promote ourselves, and fight for the top spot. But in God’s kingdom—and in recovery—the rules are reversed.
The path to being lifted up begins by humbly asking Him to remove our shortcomings.
Humility isn’t thinking less of yourself; it’s thinking of yourself less. It’s realizing that we are not the source of our own supply. Just as every group ought to be fully self-supporting, we must learn to stand on the spiritual support God provides, rather than propping ourselves up with ego or pride.
When we stop trying to be the “big shot” and accept our place under God’s mighty hand, the pressure is off. We don’t have to carry the world. We just have to walk humbly in it.
