God is a gentleman. He won’t force His way into your life. He waits for you to become entirely ready to let Him in.
When we cling to our defects of character, we keep God at arm’s length. We are effectively saying, “I want your help, but don’t touch this part of my life.” To truly recover, we must stop lending our name and energy to outside enterprises—the old habits and distractions—and focus entirely on drawing near to Him.
As you take a step toward Him, you will find He is already running to meet you.
