We often try to impress God with our “goodness” or our willpower. But He isn’t looking for superstars. He is looking for people who will humbly ask Him to remove their shortcomings.
True spiritual maturity is realizing that we cannot fix ourselves. Just as a group must be self-supporting, we must learn to stand on our own spiritual feet by relying on God, rather than leaning on the validation of others.
To walk humbly is to admit, “I am flawed, but I am loved.” That is the sweet spot of recovery.
