There is a big difference between asking someone for directions and actually handing them the keys to your car. For a long time, many of us treated God like a GPS. We would ask Him for advice when we were lost, but we insisted on keeping our hands firmly on the steering wheel. Unsurprisingly, we kept driving ourselves into ditches.
True recovery begins with commitment. It means finally handing over the keys. We make a conscious decision to turn our will and our lives over to the care of God. We commit our path, our relationships, our finances, and our future entirely to Him.
When we do this, the scripture promises that “He will do this”—He will act on our behalf. Commitment stabilizes surrender. You don’t have to figure out all the answers anymore. You just have to trust the One who is driving. Sit in the passenger seat today and enjoy the ride.
