Faith is not a passive feeling that suddenly washes over us while we are sitting on the couch. Faith is an active pursuit. It requires us to move toward God, believing that He is there and that He responds to our effort.
To “earnestly seek” means to look for Him with the same intensity we used to look for our next fix or our next distraction. It means prioritizing our spiritual condition above our comfort.
Seeking draws reward. God doesn’t play hard to get, but He does want to be pursued. When we take the time to read the word, sit in prayer, and earnestly look for His hand in our daily lives, He rewards us with the one thing we need most: His presence. He is the treasure waiting to be found.
