RGV Road to Recovery IA is a Christ-centered recovery ministry offering Scripture-integrated education, peer support, mentoring, recovery resources, relapse-prevention tools, family support, meetings, and referrals.

Please read this disclaimer before using our website, courses, meetings, forms, publications, or other resources.

Not an Emergency or Crisis Service

RGV Road to Recovery IA is not an emergency-response service, crisis hotline, medical facility, detoxification facility, psychiatric facility, or suicide-prevention service.

Our website forms, course messages, email accounts, voicemail, and social-media accounts are not continuously monitored. Do not use them to request emergency assistance.

Get Immediate Help

If you or another person:

  • May be in immediate danger;

  • Is experiencing a medical emergency;

  • May have overdosed;

  • Has severe withdrawal symptoms;

  • Is threatening or attempting suicide;

  • Is threatening to harm another person; or

  • Is otherwise unable to remain safe,

call 911 or go to the nearest emergency department immediately.

Not Medical or Behavioral-Health Treatment

Unless expressly identified otherwise, RGV Road to Recovery IA does not provide:

  • Medical diagnosis or treatment;

  • Psychiatric or psychological diagnosis or treatment;

  • Licensed substance-use disorder treatment;

  • Medical detoxification;

  • Medication management;

  • Individual psychotherapy;

  • Licensed mental-health counseling;

  • Clinical case management;

  • Legal advice;

  • Financial advice; or

  • Continuous participant supervision.

Our courses, meetings, publications, mentoring, and communications are provided for general education, spiritual encouragement, peer support, and recovery-related information.

They are not substitutes for evaluation, diagnosis, detoxification, treatment, counseling, medication, or advice from an appropriately qualified professional.

Withdrawal and Detoxification Warning

Withdrawal from alcohol, benzodiazepines, opioids, and certain other substances can result in serious or life-threatening medical complications.

Do not attempt to manage potentially dangerous withdrawal based solely on information provided by RGV Road to Recovery IA.

A person who may be physically dependent on alcohol, medication, or another substance should seek prompt evaluation from a qualified medical professional or licensed treatment provider.

Call 911 when severe withdrawal symptoms, seizures, unconsciousness, breathing problems, chest pain, confusion, hallucinations, or another medical emergency occurs.

Medication and Treatment Decisions

Do not start, stop, reduce, increase, or otherwise change prescribed medication based on information obtained from our website, courses, meetings, books, facilitators, mentors, volunteers, or other participants.

Medication and treatment decisions should be made with an appropriately licensed healthcare professional who understands the individual’s medical history and circumstances.

Participation in an RGV program should not delay or replace professional treatment.

Facilitators, Mentors, and Volunteers

Facilitators, mentors, ministry leaders, and volunteers may share education, Scripture, encouragement, personal experience, and recovery resources.

Unless a person is expressly identified as acting in a licensed professional capacity, participants should not assume that the person is a physician, therapist, psychologist, psychiatrist, licensed addiction counselor, attorney, or other licensed professional.

Participation does not create a:

  • Physician-patient relationship;

  • Therapist-client relationship;

  • Counselor-client relationship;

  • Attorney-client relationship;

  • Fiduciary relationship; or

  • Other licensed professional relationship.

Even when a participant, facilitator, or volunteer holds professional credentials outside RGV, that person is not necessarily providing professional services through the ministry.

Faith-Based Information

RGV Road to Recovery IA is expressly Christian and Bible-based. Our resources may include Scripture, prayer, testimony, and Christian teaching.

Spiritual encouragement can be an important part of recovery, but it should not be treated as a replacement for needed medical care, behavioral-health treatment, licensed counseling, emergency intervention, or other professional services.

No Guarantee of Recovery or Other Outcomes

Recovery is personal and may be affected by medical, psychological, spiritual, social, family, legal, housing, financial, and environmental circumstances.

RGV Road to Recovery IA does not guarantee:

  • Sobriety or freedom from relapse;

  • Successful completion of a program;

  • Physical or mental-health improvement;

  • Family reconciliation;

  • Housing or treatment placement;

  • Employment or financial improvement;

  • A particular spiritual outcome;

  • Acceptance by an outside organization; or

  • Any other specific result.

Testimonials and recovery stories reflect individual experiences. They do not promise that another participant will experience the same outcome.

Each participant remains responsible for personal decisions, conduct, healthcare, treatment choices, safety, and use of the information provided.

Referrals and Outside Organizations

RGV may provide links, contact information, directories, or referrals involving treatment providers, counselors, recovery housing, churches, community agencies, support groups, booksellers, or other organizations.

A referral or listing does not constitute a guarantee, certification, warranty, or promise concerning:

  • Professional qualifications;

  • Licensing;

  • Availability;

  • Safety;

  • Treatment quality;

  • Housing conditions;

  • Program results;

  • Fees;

  • Insurance coverage; or

  • Suitability for a particular person.

Outside organizations make their own admission, treatment, housing, service, and payment decisions. RGV does not control their practices.

Individuals and families should independently evaluate an outside provider before entering a program, signing an agreement, sharing sensitive information, or making a payment.

Recovery Housing

Information concerning recovery housing is informational and referral-based unless a written agreement expressly states otherwise.

Viewing a housing page, submitting a form, or contacting RGV does not:

  • Guarantee housing availability;

  • Reserve a bed;

  • Establish a landlord-tenant relationship;

  • Constitute acceptance into a residence;

  • Guarantee financial assistance; or

  • Replace independent review of a housing provider.

Separately operated housing organizations may have their own eligibility requirements, resident agreements, costs, rules, privacy practices, and legal responsibilities.

Confidentiality Limitations

RGV seeks to treat personal and recovery-related information respectfully, but absolute confidentiality cannot be guaranteed.

Group participants may hear personal information shared during meetings. Although participants may be instructed to respect confidentiality, RGV cannot guarantee that every participant will follow those instructions.

Ordinary email, website forms, video meetings, course systems, and other internet communications also carry privacy and security risks.

Information may be disclosed when reasonably believed necessary to:

  • Respond to an immediate threat to life or safety;

  • Report suspected abuse, neglect, or exploitation when required or permitted by law;

  • Comply with a subpoena, court order, or other legal obligation;

  • Investigate fraud, threats, harassment, or security incidents; or

  • Protect RGV, a participant, or another person.

Do not share information about another person unless you have permission or lawful authority to do so.

Information Is Not a Medical Record

RGV Road to Recovery IA is not representing that it is a HIPAA-covered healthcare provider or health plan.

Information submitted through a form, email, course, meeting, or account should not automatically be assumed to have the same legal protection as a medical record maintained by a HIPAA-covered healthcare provider.

Please submit only the information reasonably necessary for your request.

Youth Participation

Participants ages 13 through 17 may use online accounts or participate in youth programs only with the knowledge and permission of a parent or legal guardian.

Children under 13 may not independently register, create an account, submit a form, or provide personal information.

Individual consideration for a child under 13 may be requested by a parent, legal guardian, legal custodian, or qualified addiction-services agency acting with proper authority.

Requests must be sent to office@rgvroadtorecovery.org.

Submitting a request does not guarantee approval. Written authorization, verification of authority, adult supervision, and additional privacy or safety protections may be required.

RGV programs do not replace professional evaluation or treatment appropriate to a child’s age and needs.

Personal Responsibility

By using our website or participating in a program, you acknowledge that:

  • RGV provides educational, spiritual, peer-support, and informational resources;

  • You remain responsible for obtaining professional or emergency assistance when needed;

  • You are responsible for evaluating information before relying on it;

  • You should consult an appropriate professional concerning medical, psychological, treatment, legal, housing, or financial decisions; and

  • No website, book, course, meeting, mentor, or peer-support program can guarantee a particular result.
