*Dear RGV Road,*
“Act justly and love mercy and walk humbly with your God.” — Micah 6:8
Imagine a person trying to navigate a bustling, crowded city street while wearing giant, mirrored sunglasses that reflect only their own face back at them. Everywhere they turn, all they can see is themselves.
As a result, they bump into pedestrians, step on toes, and knock people over because they are completely blind to the needs, feelings, and presence of anyone walking alongside them. In our self-centered past, we lived with those mirrored glasses on, obsessing entirely over our own comfort, desires, and demands.
Humbly asking God to remove our shortcomings is like taking off those self-centered glasses. True humility aligns our hearts directly with God’s priorities.
When we step down from our personal thrones, we stop treating people like obstacles and start acting justly, extending generous mercy, and walking in sweet, peaceful alignment with our Creator.
Look for an opportunity today to show unexpected mercy or fairness to someone who irritates you, intentionally putting their comfort ahead of your own preferences.
Lord, teach me to walk humbly and love mercy. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
