Teen Recovery Resources

You are more than the struggle you are facing.

If alcohol, drugs, vaping, gambling, gaming, screens, pornography, or another harmful pattern is taking over, you deserve honest help and a safe next step. You can ask for support before things get worse.

Start with someone safe

  1. Tell a trusted adult. A safe parent or guardian, school counselor, healthcare professional, or responsible youth leader can help you take the next step. If home is unsafe, choose another trustworthy adult.
  2. Name what is happening. You can say, “I keep trying to stop, but I need help.” You do not need a label or diagnosis to start a conversation.
  3. Make a plan together. Identify risky situations, agree on helpful boundaries, and connect with age-appropriate professional or recovery support.

Ask a counselor or service to explain privacy, parental involvement, and the situations in which they must act to keep someone safe. Do not share personal contact details publicly or move into private chats with unknown adults.

Find support for what you are facing

Alcohol, drugs & medication misuse

Ask a safe adult or healthcare professional for help finding adolescent services. Use treatment-directory age filters and confirm eligibility directly.

Gaming, screens & online habits

Talk with a safe adult about sleep, school, spending, online content, and relationships. Agree on boundaries and seek professional guidance when the pattern is difficult to change.

Adult recovery groups are not automatically suitable for minors. Have a parent, guardian, or professional check age eligibility and safeguarding first.

Gambling, spending & risky purchases

Ask for help with betting, gambling-like purchases, chasing losses, or hidden spending. Review access to payment methods and seek age-appropriate counseling.

Pornography & unwanted sexual behavior

Speak with a safe adult or qualified counselor who works with adolescents. You can ask for help without sharing explicit details publicly. Choose age-appropriate support that respects safety and boundaries.

Eating concerns & body image

Restriction, binge eating, purging, or distress-driven exercise call for support from an adolescent healthcare professional and an eating-disorder specialist.

Bring your questions to Jesus

You can be honest about anger, shame, or questions about God. Learn about Jesus, repentance, forgiveness, and beginning a new life in Him. Painful feelings and ongoing struggles do not mean God has abandoned you.

Some testimony videos discuss abuse, addiction, and suicidal thoughts. A safe adult can help choose what is appropriate for you.

For parents, guardians & youth leaders

Listen calmly, take concerns seriously, and focus on safety and support. Work with qualified adolescent professionals when needed. Check the age range, adult supervision, consent requirements, confidentiality limits, and reporting practices of any outside program.

Need urgent help?

For immediate danger, suspected overdose, or a medical emergency, call 911. In the United States, the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline offers support for suicidal crisis or emotional distress: call 988, text 988, or use online crisis chat. RGV email and forms are not emergency services.

RGV provides recovery education and peer support, not emergency or licensed clinical care. For nonurgent questions, contact RGV in writing. Do not use forms or email for emergencies.
