 | | | | | “He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.” — Micah 6:8 | | Imagine a ship navigating a narrow, rocky channel into a safe harbor. If the captain tries to force their own way, relying entirely on self-will and pride, the vessel inevitably hits the jagged rocks below. But when the captain surrenders control to a skilled harbor pilot who knows every current and depth, the ship glides smoothly into peaceful waters. In active addiction, we attempted to steer our own lives through sheer self-will, demands, and pride only to repeatedly run aground and cause wreckage. Humbly asking God to remove our shortcomings means stepping down as the master of our own destiny and learning to walk humbly alongside God. Humility is not thinking less of ourselves, but placing ourselves in right relationship with our Creator and those around us. When we choose justice over self-interest, offer mercy instead of judgment, and walk with quiet submission, we release the burden of needing to control everything—and finally experience the steady, aligning peace of God's grace. |

| Practice quiet humility today when tempted to insist on being right, proving a point, or taking control of a situation, pause and intentionally choose to extend mercy or let someone else go first. |
