No matter how much we poured into it—substances, relationships, money, or distractions—it all leaked out, leaving us constantly empty and desperate for more. Despair was our default state because our foundation was broken. This scripture introduces a completely different dynamic. It shows us that true joy and peace are not things we have to desperately hustle for; they are the natural byproducts of trust. When we place our trust in a Power greater than ourselves, He repairs the hole in the bucket. And He doesn’t just give us a drop of peace; He fills us up so completely that the hope begins to spill over the edges. When we trust God with our messy lives, we become an overflowing source of hope for everyone around us. |
