Recovery isn’t a “one and done” event. It’s a daily walk. If we stop paying attention, it’s easy to drift back into old habits, just like a house gets dusty if you never clean it. That is why we continue to take personal inventory and when we are wrong, promptly admit it. We don’t have opinions on outside issues or try to fix the whole world. We focus on our own path. We check our motives daily. Did I lie today? Was I selfish? Was I kind? When we spot a mistake, we don’t hide it—we admit it promptly. This daily honesty keeps our side of the street clean and prevents small slip-ups from turning into major relapses. |
