But looking back, wasn’t it our suffering that finally forced us to admit we were powerless? Pain is often the only thing strong enough to break our pride. When we hit that bottom, we realized our way wasn’t working. That admission wasn’t the end; it was the beginning of hope. As we prioritize our common welfare and walk together, we see that our shared struggles are actually building a new character in us. You are not defined by the addiction that broke you. You are being defined by the hope that is rebuilding you. |

| Look at a current struggle in your life. Instead of asking “Why is this happening to me?”, ask “What character is God trying to build in me through this?” |

| God, thank You for not wasting my pain. Use my struggles to build a character that points back to You. In Jesus’ Name, Amen. |
