We are excellent at making our own plans and terrible at executing them without leaving a trail of destruction. Our self-will, manipulation, and desperate need to force outcomes constantly led us into dead ends. We were awful architects of our own lives. Recovery demands that we shift our approach entirely. Instead of scheming and striving, we are told to commit whatever we do to the Lord. This means handing Him the blueprints. When we release our tight grip on the future and let Him take the lead, He is the one who establishes our plans. He makes our footing firm. Commitment anchors our surrender. It brings immense relief to realize that the pressure of figuring everything out is no longer resting entirely on your shoulders. |
