 | | | | | “Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.” — James 5:16 | | Imagine carrying a severe, infected wound under a thick, filthy bandage. You keep it hidden out of shame, terrified that if anyone sees how ugly it looks, they will reject you. But beneath that dark cover, the infection only spreads deeper, causing non-stop pain. Healing cannot even begin until you remove the bandage, expose the wound to light and clean air, and let a trusted hand clean it out. Keeping the exact nature of our wrongs locked up inside us is like hiding an infected wound. Secrets thrive in the dark, keeping us isolated, sick, and constantly afraid of exposure. Confession is the act of stepping into the light. When we speak the truth of our past out loud to God and to another trustworthy human being, the suffocating power of shame is broken instantly. In the fresh air of honest disclosure, true healing finally takes root. |
