 | | | Committing plans to the Lord | |
| | | “Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and he will establish your plans.” — Proverbs 16:3 | | Imagine a large ocean vessel attempting to dock near a rocky coastline during a heavy coastal surge. If the crew relies solely on the engine power to keep the ship stationary, the relentless push of the crashing waves will eventually wear out the engines and smash the boat against the sharp rocks. Dropping a heavy, solid steel anchor deep into the ocean floor is what locks the vessel securely in place, keeping it steady regardless of the choppy surface water. Surrender is not a floating, passive wish; it requires dropping an anchor. Commitment is that steel anchor. When we consciously turn our daily routines, our financial decisions, our career goals, and our personal relationships over to the care of God, we are embedding our anchor into solid rock. We stop frantically fighting the choppy waves of circumstance in our own limited power. When we commit our daily steps to Him, He establishes our path and keeps our lives steady through every storm. |
