Prayer trades anxiety for peace

Prayer, gratitude, and peace

Dear ,

“Do not be anxious about anything… the peace of God… will guard your hearts and minds.” — Philippians 4:6–7

Anxiety is often a sign that we have tried to take back the job of “Manager of the Universe.” We worry because we feel the weight of things we cannot control. But God offers us a supernatural exchange: we give Him our worries and our gratitude, and He gives us His peace.

Prayer is the mechanism for this trade. When we stop obsessing over our problems and start talking to God about them—with a heart of thankfulness for what He’s already done—something shifts. His peace, which doesn’t even make sense given our circumstances, stands like a guard at the door of our hearts.

Whenever you feel a spike of anxiety today, immediately name three things you are grateful for. Notice how gratitude changes the atmosphere of your mind.

Father, receive my prayers and guard my heart with Your peace. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Remember, seeking help is a sign of strength, not weakness. You deserve a life free
from addiction

Sincerely,
The RGV Road to Recovery IA Team
