 | | | | Offering ourselves to God. | | |
| | | “Offer yourselves to God as those who have been brought from death to life; and offer every part of yourself to him as an instrument of righteousness.” — Romans 6:13 | | Imagine a master craftsman stepping into an old workshop filled with rusted, neglected tools that were previously used for destructive purposes. The craftsman doesn’t throw the tools away; instead, he takes the iron, cleans off the rust, sharpens the dull edges, and polishes the metal until it is completely ready to be used in creating stunning, beautiful furniture. The tools themselves don’t do the work—they simply yield to the hands of the master. In our active addiction, our minds, bodies, and talents were used as instruments of destruction, bringing pain to ourselves and others. Becoming entirely ready to have God remove our defects of character means offering ourselves as those who have been brought from death to life. We place every part of who we are into the hands of the Master Craftsman, offering our lives as clean, ready instruments that He can use to build good things in the world. |
