Every car has a blind spot—an area over the driver’s shoulder that cannot be seen in the rearview or side mirrors. If you try to change lanes on a busy highway without physically turning your head to check that hidden space, you are practically guaranteeing a high-speed collision. In our spiritual and emotional lives, we all have massive blind spots. We can easily spot the pride and selfishness in the people around us, but we are completely oblivious to those exact same traits driving our own behavior. We need God to reveal the hidden faults that our egos aggressively protect. Honesty uncovers these dangerous roots. When we ask God to shine a light into our blind spots, we aren’t asking to be shamed; we are asking to be saved from a crash. We must invite His correction to find lasting healing. |
