Readiness for renewal

Dear ,

“Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me.” — Psalm 51:10

We cannot fix a broken spiritual foundation with simple behavior modification. We can try to act better and follow the rules, but if our hearts are still holding onto old resentments and selfish desires, the changes won’t last.

True change requires a Creator. We have to be entirely ready to let go of our defective coping mechanisms so that God can do His work. Asking God to “create” a pure heart is an admission that we cannot manufacture one ourselves. Readiness invites this profound transformation, making room for a steadfast spirit that won’t collapse under pressure.

Identify a character defect you have been stubbornly defending. Tell God today that you are finally ready for Him to remove it.

God, make me ready for Your transforming work. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
